“Using photography as a point of departure instead of an end goal is important to Ingrid: “When I’ve shot my material and scroll through the many pictures of that day I basically gather all the best parts and start cutting and combining.” .
Making combinations from strong features found in each model she creates portraits of otherworldly beauty. Although emotion and expression always play a part in Ingrid’s work, the images also relate to religious iconography: strong and warm, but with a sacred, safe distance. “I always strive for an expression where my women-figures display multiple emotions but at the same time are capable to not fully disclose all. That you feel close to her and in touch with her but can’t figure out what emotion is most present.” .
