I see you, girl. Hustling. Making moves. Being brave. Smiling even when it hurts. Staying positive. Trying so hard to hold up those around you.
But one truth you must learn before it’s too late: your heart comes first. Your dreams come first.
Don’t be so focused on helping others achieve their goals that you loose sight of your own.
This is a call-to-arms to all my healers, teachers, intuitives, coaches, big sisters, mamas, dedicated friends and lovers to no end — your heart comes first. Not the other way around. You are doing a disservice to those you are trying to help by not helping yourself first. It’s ok to step away. To take a day. A week. As long as you need.
When life got too overwhelming and post-partum depression came roaring into my being like a high speed train, I could no longer teach my teachings from an authentic place. I needed to heal. I needed to be silent and receive instead of give, for once. Every day, I thank the universe for giving me those two months of silence and support to help me find my way back to me.
Whatever it is you need, ask for it. Demand it. Find a way. And while you’re out there, doing this important work for the world, please never forget — your heart comes first.
