A 6inch glass letter made around 1910. This piece of art was created using a kiln to melt glass over a metal formed mould. The base of the letter was ground away on a rotating flat stone wheel, the interior of the letter was then cleaned and painted with a brown enamel paint that when fired to a high temperature turns into a bright gold mirror making the gild a permanent fused finish. Amazing technique and stunning quality after all these years. I have around 20 different letters for sale if anyone is keen to own a piece of American typography history.
